Acadia Valley Volunteer Fire Department

The Acadia Valley Volunteer Fire Department is one of the provinces solely volunteer brigades. It is a small but strong department with approximately 25 volunteer members.

Throughout the decades, the fire department has had many forms and many members and has always been an important part of our community.

In 2015, the department moved to a new location on the south side of the hamlet, which was the former CJS Agro Building that was purchased from Richardson Pioneer Ltd, who also made a generous donation toward the building’s purchase.

The department currently operates a pumper truck, a water tanker, a medical wagon and 2 pick up trucks. In 2017, it added a new pumper truck to its fleet.

Along with responding to fire calls, our fire department also receives 911 dispatches for medical emergencies and motor vehicle accidents within the MD and surrounding area, providing a much needed service to our rural communities.

The Fire Fighter’s Club holds an annual Steak and Lobster Supper in November to help fundraise for club training and activities. For additional information, please contact Fire Chief Rodger Didychuck at 403-371-8005.
