Fire Bans

The MD of Acadia has 4 stages of Fire Hazard Warning Levels:

  1. No Restriction
  2. Fire Advisory
  3. Fire Restriction
  4. Fire Ban

The current level is Fire Advisory.

The fire hazard rating has increased and Controlled Burns may be restricted. Safe campfires are allowed in campgrounds and random camping areas, but may be restricted if conditions do not improve. Incinerator fires are permitted at a minimum distance of 30m away from structures and 3m away from combustible materials.

Please note that during periods where controlled burns are not permitted, the link to the Fire Permit and Controlled Burn Request Form will not be available.

Control Burns

When permitted, controlled burns are to be completed in a burning pit, barrel, or other controlled environment. Control burns must be supervised by at least 1 person at all times with an adequate supply of water on hand to guard against fire spread.

Please note that effective Spring 2019, the only option for control burn permits will be via online submission.

If there are issues with the online form, contact the MD of Acadia office at 403-972-3808.
