Annual Events
First week of February: Ladies Bonspiel. This is a Fun bonspiel & brings out 1st time Curlers as well as the “experts”. The women really enjoy their weekend out!
Mid February: Family Day Week & Teachers Convention. Students are off from school for the week.
First full week of March: ICE to DICE Mixed Bonspiel. Every team entered has a chance to win a trip for four to Las Vegas This bonspiel attracts more teams than than other bonspiels in the area. Feature Evenings during the week.
Mid March: Annual Boxing Club “Card”. A Evening including a roast beef supper and many rounds of Junior Boxing Competition. Held at the Oyen Legion, Oyen Alberta.
March / April: Easter Celebrations ~ Easter Holidays. Usually 10 days starting on Good Friday. Field prep and seeding begin.
May: Minor Ball Season. Baseball organizations kick off the season and seeding operations are well underway.
Second weekend in May: Mothers Day Tea & Bake Sale. An event that brings back Mothers & Grandmothers who have left the area but still come back to visit & support the community.
End of June: Schools out for the summer. Students and teachers have break from school until the last week of August.
July 1: Canada Day. Sports Day in Acadia Valley and Canada Day fun for all.
End of August: Students and teachers return to school. Just before the long weekend, kids back to school.
October - Saturday before Thanksgiving: Annual Sausage Fry & Social Evening. Homemade sausage and all the trimmins. A good feast before you hit mom’s home cooking and turkey for Thanksgiving.
December 31: New Years Family Gala. Featuring a barbequed beef supper & social evening. Sometimes a band but mostly its a large house party & the people make it an enjoyable evening.
