M.D. of Acadia #34
- The Prairie Elevator; (403) 972-2028. A Tea House,
Gift Shop & Museum. Located in Acadia Valley, a
restored Alberta Wheat Pool Elevator in working condition
(but not operable). A prairie landmark that is
disappearing from the horizon across the prairies. You
can tour the facility and learn how these large
structures handled the millions of bushels of grain grown
in our agricultural areas. There is also a restored CNR
caboose on site to further remind us that there was once
a railroad running through the hamlet of Acadia Valley.
Stop in for a refreshment and a snack, browse the tea
rooms many Arts & Crafts, many of which are made by
local artisans. If you find something you like, by all
means, take it home with you.
- The Acadia Municipal Recreation
Dam: Located 4 miles south
and 2 miles west of Acadia Valley on Hiway #41, this man
made dam is enjoyed by fisherman of all ages. The dam is
fished year round for its seemingly easy to catch,
stocked trout.
- Numerous natural phenomenon and artifacts are located throughout the
Municipality. If you are interested in visiting these
sites, you will have to make arrangements with the
landowners, as in most cases these are situated on
private lands. Reasonable requests are normally easily
arranged, depending on the season of course.
- If you are going to visit the
area, call ahead to the Prairie Elevator or the Municipal
Office for more information.
